High BMI causes more than 9,500 deaths per year in Belgium
A high body mass index (BMI) caused more than 9,500 deaths in Belgium in 2022. This is evident from a new study of Sciensano. That is 8.2 per cent of all deaths per hour in the country or more than one case.
